George Schweitzer, PhD

Instructor in Medicine

Research Interests

My professional interests are in assessing the effects of exercise and dietary composition on cardiometabolic health, particularly in people with obesity assessing both whole body physiology and cellular mechanism.  Additionally, using basic science methods and translational models, I am interested in dissecting mechanisms involved in rare skeletal muscle abnormalities including pediatric Lpin1 mutations, Site 1 protease mutations, and Barth Syndrome, and how these abnormalities alter metabolic function and affect pathophysiology.
